Beauitful Because You’re You by music_is_my_life

She stared at the mirror, looking at the face reflected back at her.  All she saw were her imperfections.  How could someone ever love an ugly person like her, she told herself everyday.  She didn’t consider herself beautiful or pretty like her best friends who beauty seemed to come naturally to.  Maybe it’s because I don’t wear makeup, she told herself.  She laid her head down on the cold sink and began to cry.  When she looked back up all she saw in front of herself was a puffy eyed girl staring her right in the eyes.  She couldn’t take it anymore, so she picked up the cup by the sink and threw it at the mirror.  The glass shattered all around her, cutting her on the arms and hands.  Before she knew it she felt weak, broken, shattered.  She dropped on the floor and watched the blood gush out of her arms.  Even though some of her “friends” had told her that pain was the only way to feel better, she felt more miserable than ever before.  She knew that she should clean herself up, but something inside her kept her glued to the floor.  Grabbing a washcloth from under the sink, she wiped up all the blood.  After she stopped the bleeding, she looked down at her arms.  On her arm was the shape of a cross, and she gasped.  Shock filled her whole body.  She had forgotten everything that she should have been telling herself everyday.  God was her Creator, and because He created her she was more than beautiful.  She didn’t need makeup or anything else to prove that.  She was beautiful just the way she was because she was made in God’s image.  With a new view of herself, she stood up, looked at what was left of the mirror and smiled.  There in front of her was the most beautiful version of herself she had seen in a long time.
